    Kim McPhaul

    PRESIDENT

For over 20 years Kim McPhaul has worked with California's franchised dealers, and for the last decade in development, implementation and growth of workforce development programs that connect youth into automotive careers across California. Kim collaborates with California dealers, automotive manufacturers, educators, and youth organizations to build automotive service professionals career pathways.

WHY am I so grateful to be a “Career Connector”?

MY WHY is meeting our industry’s newest service professionals, whose hard work and zero college debt means a better life for them and their family.

MY WHY is working with our team, whose drive every day to improve futures and our industry is infectious.

MY WHY is partnering with educators and industry volunteers, whose passion to mentor is undeniably improving the future of our industry.

    PROGRAM MANAGER

15 years in youth development, program building, and partnerships… and I’ve never seen anything like what the CNCDA Foundation is doing for young people. The way we connect students to real opportunities and real people who can launch them into this industry is unmatched.

So, what’s my why? It’s simple and deep all at once:

I get to impact the future today.

These students are tomorrow’s techs, service managers, dealers, and OEM leaders and I get the privilege of pouring into them now so they’re ready for what’s next.

    Crazy? 🤷🏿‍♂️ Maybe. Fulfilling? 1000%

    MARKETING ASSOCIATE

I’ve always had an interest in cars and the automotive industry. After earning my Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, it felt like a natural fit to apply my skills in a field I loved and understood. Working alongside many automotive professionals, including technicians, I gained a deeper understanding for the people, stories and dedication behind the work.

During my time in automotive dealerships, I realized I wanted to use my experience in a way that supported not only the colleagues I’d worked alongside for years, but also the broader community. I’ve been the student in need of a mentor and the young graduate searching for guidance. Today, I strive to be that support for others, empowering those who keep us on the road as they drive their futures forward.

    FUND DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Growing up around the automotive industry, I naturally found myself taking on various roles in the dealership world. Over time, I landed in the service department as a Service Advisor, eventually becoming an Assistant Service Manager—and that’s where I found my calling. It was in that fast-paced, team-driven environment that I honed my communication skills, embraced collaboration, and learned to think operationally. I realized quickly: my work didn’t just affect my role—it impacted an entire network of people counting on me to perform at my best.

After the birth of my fourth child, I stepped away from the dealership—though not too far. For the next 20 years, I raised my family while staying close to the industry, supporting dealers through finance and digital marketing services. I watched, with pride, as former coworkers—now lifelong friends—rose through the ranks to become service managers, sales managers, and dealer principals.
