
Clean Vehicle Technician Ready Pre-Apprenticeship

The Clean Vehicle Technician Ready pre-apprenticeship program, in collaboration with Bakersfield College and the California New Car Dealers Association (CNCDA) Foundation, is designed for high school juniors and seniors who lack access to automotive facilities in their schools or districts.

This program is open to young adults who are ready to explore, learn, and launch! To be eligible, students must:
- Be between the ages of 16–24
- Not currently enrolled in an auto shop program at their high school or college
- Commit to attending all 16 weeks of training
- Be available for occasional Saturday sessions
- Show a strong interest in a career where you can help others and earn great wages!
- Be recommended or approved by your school
Here is what you’ll learn and earn:
You will learn and demonstrate proper automotive shop safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe handling of tools and equipment, and adherence to industry-standard safety protocols.
You’ll gain foundational knowledge of vehicle systems and components, including engines, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems.
You’ll develop entry-level skills in tool identification, basic diagnostics, and routine maintenance procedures, preparing them for more advanced technical training and hands-on work in the automotive industry.
You’ll earn a total of 5 college credits by the end of the program
